AWARENESS
Bringing community to the table
Switch educates community members and agencies on how to recognize red flags for human trafficking, how to report suspected human trafficking cases, and how to respond with appropriate resources to individuals who have experienced sexual exploitation.
PREVENTION
Reaching them before it happens
Switch educates students in middle schools, high schools, church youth groups and at-risk youth centers through our #YouAreMore prevention curriculum. This curriculum provides young people with the tools and knowledge to have healthy relationships, recognize red flags, know their safe places and strengthen their vulnerabilities in order to protect themselves and their friends from victimization.
DEMAND
Stopping it where it begins
Switch Demand consists of men who are passionate about ending the demand for commercial sex and pornography in the Upstate. The men in this group fight the demand by providing awareness and education on the dangers of pornography through speaking to men’s groups. They also seek to help sex buyers who are fighting addiction. Lastly, they seek to influence legislation in creating stronger laws against those who would fuel the commercial sex industry.
INTERVENTION
REACHING THE MOST VULNERABLE
Switch reaches out the women working in the sex industry offering them a path out of a life of exploitation. Through the caring hearts of our donors, our volunteers bring care packages to the women and bouncers in the club and share the light of Christ with them. As a result, many women and men have left the club and began the healing process.
RESTORATION
BRINGING HEALING AND HOPE
Switch provides assistance to women who want to get out of the life of trafficking and sexual exploitation through our Restoration program. Participants come in for a biopsychosocial interview and from there meet with a Care Coordinator who will work to provide them with holistic case management. Care Coordinators work with participants to help create their own goals while empowering them to work towards meeting them. The restoration process can include: trauma counseling with local therapists, survivor classes that focus on healing, and being paired with an Oasis mentor. Care Coordinators work with community partners and give participants those resources to help meet the needs and goals outside of those three things. The Restoration staff work with many local, state, and national agencies and partners to serve participants. The goal of the Restoration program is to support survivors as they walk through their healing journey.
